Dragonfly Gardens Urban Glamping

Dragonfly Gardens Urban Glamping

Dragonfly Gardens is promoting a type of tourism that has a much smaller carbon footprint than conventional tourism.Eco-design/Functional recycling and community involvement are the main ideas along which the Urban Glamping is operating. It is also creating local jobs since owners are offering free consulting services to people wanting to start new glamping sites in Romania. Another important aspect is that it offers young entrepreneurs the possibility to start their local sustainable business as an alternative to moving abroad.

A 15 unit glamping site can house approximately 40 people, whilst a conventional building needed to house the same number of people (15 room building) would generate a lot of waste, would have a large impact on the environment due to the materials used and would greatly impact our ecosystem. Glamping has minimal impact while still offering a great time for its guests in glamorous conditions. It also helps children stay in touch with nature and live a simpler but nourishing life.

Considering the economical benefits, the glamping business has an absolute positive effect on the economy.
It draws a lot of tourists to discover the area where it is operated, namely, to the city of Brasov and its region. Once in the area, tourists will also use the services and products offered by other local businesses such as restaurants, local guides, museums, and other attractions. It is a new market which is making Brasov and its region more attractive.

Eco-design/Functional recycling and community involvement

Starting from the fact, that most equipment was designed and manufactured by the owners from reclaimed material and therefore the use of conventional building materials has been considerably reduced, the use of other resources has been also kept to a minimum.
It is also worth mentioning, that by sharing the knowledge with other young entrepreneurs about how to set up and run a glamping site the possibility of reducing even more widely the damages conventional tourism industry has on the environment is considerably higher.

Running a local tourism establishment of this kind, also supports other stakeholders such as museums, local restaurants, and tour guides, consequently contributing to the economic growth of the region.
