Welcome to the Circular Skills for a Better Future module, where we address the knowledge and skills needed to build and run a small tourism business using a circular economy approach.

Running a successful circular business demands more than just good intentions. It requires a specific set of skills and a deep understanding of the guiding principles of sustainability and circular economy. Moreover, you need to  be able to translate these principles into actionable strategies, using them in the stories you tell about your business while making sure that your staff is on board.

This module is structured into three key sub-modules, each designed to  address different aspects of building and maintaining a circular tourism business:

1. New Skills for Circular Times:
    ○ Explore the emerging skill sets essential for navigating the dynamic landscape of circular economy practices in the tourism sector.
2. Services and Profits: Connecting the Dots:
    ○ Connecting service delivery and profitability in a circular business, introducing the Profit Cycle model by Professor Luis María Huete to forge a virtuous circle aligning customer goals, employee objectives, and company aspirations.
3. Internal Engagement:
    ○ Activate internal engagement and alignment with circular principles, ensuring that your team is not only aware of but actively champions the circular vision of your business.

This module will build on the previous modules, especially module 2 RESOLVE IN PRACTICE, 3 DESIGN YOUR CIRCULAR TOURISM BUSINESS and 4 COMMUNICATE YOUR CIRCULAR MARKET VALUE PROPOSITION





Learning Outcomes
At the end of the  module you will be able to:

● Know and identify the most valuable skills needed in order to run a circular tourism business.
● Understand the different categories of sustainability and Circularity skills and how to activate them in business design.
● Understand the Triple bottom line and its components.
● Be familiar with the concept of the Service Profit Cycle and understand how circular drivers might boost customer and employer satisfaction.
● Be familiar with the concept of Internal Adoption Factors.
● Understand how Circular adoption factors might influence the job satisfaction of employees.
